Expliseat inaugurates its first establishment in Angers

On September 13, Expliseat, a leading designer of ultralight transport seats, celebrated the official opening of its first assembly established in Angers. Located at the heart of France's industrial ecosystem, this new facility marks a turning point for the company, which is now much more than an innovative SME: it is becoming a fully-fledged industrial player.

“The inauguration of this establishment marks a turning point in Expliseat's history. It embodies our vision of an innovative, responsible and forward-looking French industry. We've made a real breakthrough in aeronautics, and we're ready to apply it to rail with the same energy”, emphasized Expliseat Chairman Amaury Barberot, summing up the company's ambitions before representatives of the French government, the Pays de la Loire region, and the mayor of Angers, Jean Marc Verchère.

A key stage in the industrialization of French innovation

Founded in 2011, Expliseat has established itself as a pioneer in the reduction of CO2 emissions in transport, thanks to its ultralight seats. Its flagship model, used on Air France, Air Canada and other major airlines, reduces carbon emissions per passenger by 6%, while guaranteeing comfort and safety. With over 10,000 seats in service worldwide, Expliseat is a leader in its field.

The inauguration of this new plant in Angers, as part of the France 2030 plan, bears witness to the company's rapid expansion. Thanks to this 6,000 m² facility, Expliseat plans to increase production to 37,000 seats per year by the end of 2024. This industrial expansion will enable the company to double the number of seats in commercial service within 12 months, supported by contracts already signed.

The Angers establishment: a showcase for “Made in France” and a driving force behind the local economy

The location of this establishment in France, and more specifically in Angers, is not insignificant. This strategic choice is based on a desire to support local and national industry, while maximizing industrial and financial synergies. Expliseat is thus playing its part in the reindustrialization of the Angers region, having already created 40 jobs in the past year, with a target of 80 new positions by 2026. The new settlement stands out not only for its industrial ambitions, but also for its environmental commitment. Housed in a renovated building, it meets the highest standards in terms of ergonomics, safety and energy performance (certified DPE A). It also incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as industrial automation and digital technology, enabling more efficient, environmentally friendly production.

Towards new horizons

Expliseat not only revolutionizes industrial production, but it also implements innovative social policies. For example, employees enjoy a 35-hour working week spread over four days, promoting a better work-life balance. This modern management model helps to attract new talent while ensuring an attractive and efficient working environment. After conquering the aeronautics industry, Expliseat focuses on the rail sector. The company is developing train seats that are up to 40% lighter than traditional models, an innovation that could lighten train weights by up to 7 tonnes. This solution is part of Expliseat's drive to make rail transport more competitive and environmentally friendly, while ensuring optimum passenger comfort.
